Magnoplasm Paste is a drawing paste containing glycerol and dried magnesium sulfate. The glycerol acts as a humectant which means it attracts water to itself and magnesium sulphate works via osmosis. The magnesium sulfate is dried so does not contain any water and when applied to the skin exhibits a strong osmotic effect and glycerol is hygroscopic, meaning it has a strong affinity for water and thus will draw out moisture from the inflamed area (as well as the atmosphere). It is a useful initial treatment for boils, carbuncles and whitlows.
Magnoplasm Paste has been on the Australian market for decades and is Australian made and owned. It is registered with the Therapeutic Goods Administration AUST R 29623 and sold in Australia.
